Sulfonate degradation is what gets me up in the morning and sulfonate transport keeps me going. I am the Uber Eats for sulfonate metabolism in our Pseudomonas putida (p.s. they can be fluorinated!).
Role
In addition to my research tasks and project, my role in the lab is to make sure everyone has been asked how they are doing. While you don’t always have to be doing OK, I will make sure to ask you at least once a day. On occasion, I am also the tortilla de patatas chef in that I am willing to make, transport and serve them to appease all walks of life (con o sin cebolla—thereby unleashing all sorts of reactions within the Spanish crowd in the SEM team).
